Dave has a 22 year history with Mike Lewis and Autocon. He has raced with and worked with Mike in SCCA regional and national events as well as TransAm for 7 years and now ALMS prototypes. Together they scored a big win in TransAm at a very wet Road America.
Dave has accumulated a lot of memorable moments with Autocon over the years but ranking at the top is a SCCA National Championship in GT3. “Mike was in second place, dogging the leader for the full 17 laps at Road Atlanta in, I believe ’96. Then on the last lap the leader succumbed to Mike’s pressure and bobbled on the last turn, last lap and Mike was the National Champion. And he was kind enough to make the pass where the crew could see. It was a thrill.”
What attracts you to racing? “I like everything that goes fast whether it is airplanes, motorcycles or race cars. I like the smells and the sounds of racing. I raced my share while with Mike in SCCA’s IT and GT3 divisions. I raced regionally and helped Mike with the national events. It is an addictive sport for many of us.”
Looking forward to 2007? “For sure. Our goals include finishing all the races and that takes a lot of teamwork, preparation and organization. I also look forward to more podium finishes. We also have some unfinished business at Road America. Let’s just say we learn at every race and apply that learning to our next event. We will be prepared.”
