San Diego, CA --- Toronto native Tony Burgess will return to his home track this year to compete in the leading prototype division for the August 24-26 Grand Prix of Mosport, one of the most popular events on the American Le Mans Series schedule.

Burgess will compete for Autocon Motorsports alongside series veteran Chris McMurry in the brand new JeanRichard Creation CA06H Judd, which has already racked up its first podium this year at Lime Rock at the New England Grand Prix, and is on a streak of four consecutive points paying finishes.

"Tony brings a ton of experience at Mosport that can only help boost our efforts at this wonderful track," stated team owner Michael Lewis. "We always look forward to racing at Mosport which is among the best and most challenging circuits in the world. To have an experienced prototype pilot such as Tony will help us achieve the results we search for at each event."

Indeed, Burgess knows Mosport very well having competed in numerous classes of cars. In recent seasons he has turned to Europe for competition racing both production and prototype cars at some of the great tracks of the world including Le Mans, Spa, and Silverstone in the Le Mans Series as well as competition in the US at Daytona and Laguna Seca.

"Mosport is my home track and I think it is the best in the world, right up there with Spa," exclaimed Burgess.   "Mosport suits the high power aero cars as there have been no awkward corners inserted to slow the cars down. I am really looking forward to climbing into the Creation in front of my home crowd and bringing Autocon a good result. The ALMS has some of the best drivers and teams in the world and it is a privilege to join them in competition."

Tony's history at Mosport extends back to his first experiences in race cars. Starting in 1990 he competed in the highly competitive Bridgestone Formula 2000 series at the track, racking up numerous wins, podiums and a 3rd place season championship result in 1995. In 1997 he turned to the professional ranks and competed in Porsche GTs. In 1998 he stepped up in class once again joining events in the FIA GT series in North America followed by ventures in Europe. He debuted at Le Mans in 2000, collecting a class podium, and in the following seasons moved up to prototypes, the highest level of international sports cars.

"I had conversations at Le Mans with Mike Jankowski, the owner of Creation Motorsports and he helped me connect with Michael Lewis of Autocon. It was a good match. My co-driver, Chris McMurry has tasted victory at Mosport in a prototype so we should be in a good position come race day."

The Grand Prix of Mosport flags off at 3:00 pm Sunday August 26 at the historic Bomanville track. Burgess will need no directions to get to the track or on the track during the three days of practice and competitiion.
