Grand Prix of Mosport

TORONTO - Canadian road racer John Graham announced today that he’ll be joining the driver lineup of Autocon Motorsports in the American Le Mans Series for Round 8 at Mosport International Raceway on September 1-3, part of the Mobil 1 presents The Labour Day Weekend Grand Prix of Mosport.

The Aurora, ON resident will co-drive the AER-powered Lola EX257 with Chris McMurry in the P1 class, the top division of series. He’ll be one of three Canadians competing in the only Canadian stop for North America’s premier sports car championship. The others are series regulars Ron Fellows and Scott Maxwell.

Since he started his racing career, Graham has mainly raced sports cars on road and street circuits, including seven times at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans. Most recently his racing career path has taken him to the NASCAR Busch series, but as a prototype driver, racing Mosport has always had a special meaning.

"This is definitely a great opportunity for me. (Team owner) Mike Lewis and Autocon have done an outstanding job this season, and I am pleased to be part of the team for this race, and into 2007 season," commented Graham. Graham is the first driver to make commitments to Autocon’s two-car effort in 2007.

"We are really excited about this upcoming race, and are pleased that John will be taking the wheel of our No.12 Lola. With Mosport being his home track he will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the team, and I know we will have an excellent shot at a strong finish,” said Lewis.

Graham has competed in the American Le Mans Series with class podium finishes at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Petit Le Mans, Portland International Raceway, Infineon Raceway, Mosport Internnational Raceway, and in Adelaide, Australia. In 2000, Graham was part of Multimatic Motorsports; the only Canadian team to have a class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Graham has signed a multi-race agreement that will see him compete with Autocon at the 2007 12 Hours of Sebring, and bring him back to Mosport for next season’s race. The team and Graham are discussing options for additional 2007 races.

"Mosport is one of the greatest tracks in the world. It is a real driver's track and the competition is always fierce from beginning to end," Graham said. "I am looking forward to getting behind the wheel on September 3rd."

The Grand Prix of Mosport will air live on SPEED on Sunday, Sept. 3 beginning at 3 p.m. EDT.
